Released today (2022/08/18) on the
Japanese Nintendo eShop
is the demo version of Taiko no Tatsujin Donder Festival/Rhythm Festival.
While you have to use a Japanese Nintendo Account to download, the demo can
run in full English depending on your console language
The demo version will feature a very condensed cut of the full game, while
giving enough for you to try out most modes and menus. You will be able to:
- Gain Taiko Power up to Taiko Level 10, which brings you to Chapter 2-3 in the story and unlocking Hoshikuzu Struck
- Play Performance Game, Donkatsu Toy Battle and Improvement Support with three songs (except William Tell Overture)
- Play Don-chan Band with William Tell Overture
- Purchase and dress up with a small handful of outfit items
Yes, you heard us right: there are unlockable songs, even in the demo!
This strongly suggests that the full game will likely have more songs
scattered in the story to be unlocked, bumping up the track list size to
[REDACTED] even before DLC and Taiko Music Pass.
our sources tell us it is 86
The story element runs not unlike Cytus II or Deemo: You gain
Taiko Power by just playing in the game, and filling up the Taiko Power
bar raises your Taiko Level and grants a charge on Kumo-kyun's
denden taiko (stores up to 5). The charges moves Don-chan forward in the
Rewards Map to unlock cutscenes, new items stocked to the shop or Don
Coins to shop with. Certain cutscenes may have
mandatory performances (Mainichi ga Donderful in Chapter 1, and
Hoshikuzu Struck Futsuu in Chapter 2-3) and song unlocks (Hoshikuzu Struck in
Chapter 2-3).

Speaking of Taiko Music Pass, the official site for NS2 is also updated
with a
partial list of 330 tracks
to be available through the subscription service. While with some pretty
significant overlap with the NS1 lineup, the currently revealed list also
features some oldies-but-goodies not seen after early-3rd generation, as well
as recent picks newly breaking arcade exclusivity like below:
(whole track is subscription debut)

(only Ura Oni is subscription debut, if included)
