Vocaloid Corner: Camui Gackpo

$

Originally distributed since July 2008 as Gackpoid (がくっぽいど), the male-voiced Camui Gackpo (神威がくぽ) was the very first Vocaloid released by Internet Co., Ltd., as well as the first one of the family to be voiced by a major Japanese singer.

Much like for other Vocaloids, his name is read and modeled after the person who provided the bases of its voice, which in this case is Japanese singer/actor/musician GACKT. Despite the name's origins, it's not uncommon to see this Vocaloid being referenced instead by his name's romanization of "Kamui Gakupo" (かむいがくぽ). Gackpo's Japanese-style clothing is already a huge indicator of his voice being programmed to speak and sing in Japanese only, unlike the later Internet Co., Ltd. Vocaloid Megpoid GUMI. Despite GUMI's higher popularity slowing down the works for later versions of the Gackpo Vocaloid, it gained updated versions under the VOCALOID3 and VOCALOID4 generation, being the latter gen's very first male Vocaloid voice getting a retail release.

As of today, Gackpo's voice can be heard in Taiko gaming only as part of the fictional Vana N'Ice unit.

After Hatsune Miku and the Kagamine twins, Megurine Luka (巡音ルカ) is Crypton Future Media, Inc.'s third Vocaloid listed under its Character Voice series.

Voiced by singer/voice actress Yu Asakawa (浅川悠), Megurine Luka was originally going to be called Hatsune Miku, prior to the change of concept plans for the Character Vocal series. The definitive name roughly comes from a literal translation of the sentence "songs to all around the world as scent spreads", as this is the very first Vocaloid to have a bilingual voice bank for a more accurate rendition of both Japanese and English sentences. Ranked 7th in 2014 in an overall Vocaloid popularity poll, she received an updated voice bank in March 2015 for the VOCALOID4 generation.

Despite appearing as a regular character for Taiko no Tatsujin songs starring Hatsume Miku custom dancers, Megurine Luka had to wait an arcade generation later for the inception of some Vocaloid tracks starring her voice.

Released on January 2012 as 1st Place Co., Ltd.'s first Vocaloid, IA (イア) is currently the voice with the highest tempo among all the currently-released Vocaloid voices/characters. Her voice is brought by Japanese singer/songwriter Lia.

Designed by marketing campaigns as an otherwordly and mysterious figure, IA's voice bank philosophy behind its creation was to make a voice that is easy to use, while being easily customizable at the same time, so that both veteran producers and newcomers to the Vocaloid brand can create their own version of IA's voice as they please. Originally known with the prototype project name of - ARIA ON THE PLANETES -, IA is currently the 4th most popular Vocaloid as of 2014 polls.

IA is the third Vocaloid on Taiko no Tatsujin games to receive a custom dancers set for her own songs, from Taiko Sorairo Version onwards.

Voiced by Japanese female voice actress Chihiro Ishiguro (石黒千尋), Yuzuki Yukari (結月ゆかり) was developed by Vocalomakets and distributed by AH-Software Co. Ltd. since December 2011.

Being loosely inspired by the Japanese legend of the Moon Rabbit, Yuzuki Yukari is the first voice bank to be released both as a Vocaloid and as a Voiceroid, a synthesized voice bank focused on normal speaking instead of singing. Slowly but surely, this Vocaloid has gained a good share of popularity (ranking 8th in overall Vocaloid popularity in 2014), up to the point of receiving an updated V4 version of voice banks in March 2015.

Yuzuki Yurari's debut in the Taiko no Tatsujin franchise could happen thanks to one of the winning songs of the CreoFuga music-making song contests, even though her voice isn't heard anywhere else since then (so far).

A few hours before the beginning of 2015's last Taiko Team livestream, this tweet previewed another aspect of Taiko White Version that will also be talked about during the broadcast: a new collaboration event, this time with the Love Live Anime series!

After the jump are other details that have been found on the collaboration's website.

The event will begin this Christmas's Eve until next year, on February 29th(yup, 2016 is a leap year). Together with the two Love Live songs from the Anime show which are already playable on current arcade models (Bokura wa Ima no Naka de and Sore wa Bokutachi no Kiseki), White Version will host another couple of songs: one from the animated series (Snow halation) and one from the show's firs movie, The School Idol Movie (Angelic Angel).

Much like with the Idolm@ster collaboration events, the nine main girls from the show will be unlockable as Petit Chars for the Taiko avatar customization during the event's run.

This is basically a full recap for the Official MyBachi corner from the December 9th livestream, but everything in written helps us put everything in English. Let's see if these officially recognized sticks to own make you interested!

            What are MyBachis?
Bachis are the sticks used to play the traditional Taiko drum, and for Taiko no Tatsujin they are attached to the cabinet available for any players to use. And MyBachis are the personally owned and highly customized versions that some Donders choose to have. There are no hard-set rules and Donders can freely use them however they like. And however of the varies ways they obtain a set, every set can almost be the unique set in the whole world only to one.

What is Wrong with not-official MyBachis?
Customized MyBachis can suffer from safety and fairness issues:

            • MyBachis are not securely tied to the cabinet like the attached sticks, in that they could be flying out of the Donder's hands at any time by accident and hit someone. Also some sticks are more towards the sharp end of the shape spectrum, and could mistakenly poke and hurt other people. And who knows what disaster would these two mishaps clash each other.
            • With no set rules on MyBachis, the experience for each using their set of sticks is different, and makes it hard to maintain fair (=circumstances equal to all) gameplay (so obviously it is banned in most, if not all, tournaments).
Having the advent of Official MyBachi regulated the specs allows for personalized enough accessories and still maintain a fair game for all.

            Official MyBachi Specs

Shape: thinner to the end for easier hits, while not sharp enough to pose safety hazards
Weight: officially regulated within 50 grams ±20% accounting for natural variations
Texture: beech wood, chosen among many candidates
Strap: straps onto the wrist to prevent flying out
Grip tape: wraps around to enhance grip
Taiko no Tatsujin branding: official seal branded onto the stick's curve with special processes

            Safety with Official MyBachi
Take these safety measures to ensure safety when using the sticks:
            • Always use the strap to secure with your wrist
            • No alterations (adding or removing the material, painting varnish, wrapping with cloth, etc.) allowed on the sticks over factory specs
            • Always use with grip tape. You can replace with other tapes you like, but do not cover the branding
            • Check for abnormalities with the sticks whenever you play, and stop using them if it feels wrong
            • Use only the attached sticks or Official MyBachis
            • Don't use the Official MyBachis on the Wii/Wii U Taiko controller

            Compatible with Official Tournaments
The Official MyBachis are made in mind to be allowed on official tournaments, but with that it is important that Donders follow the above rules. Most importantly, no alterations should be done or the sticks will not be allowed to be used, under possible assumptions of hazards.

            Location Test Says
The December 4~6 Location Test for the Official MyBachis yielded A majority of Donders reflect that the Official MyBachis plays decently well on hands, only having surmountable feeling of oddness that should be quick to get used to.

            Other specific opinions include:
            • Strap doesn't feel like down-to-earth Taiko!
→ Consider adding Don-chan's face for some Taiko familiarity!
            • Grip tape is too short!
              → Consider making it longer!
...and more. Do tell the Team whatever you have in your mind, and together let's make the sticks in the most Donder-friendly state!

            Official MyBachi FAQs
            1. Q: Are cabinets going to stop having sticks attached?
A: No! You can use attached sticks just as you do now.
            2. Q: In what ways are they used if they are not with the cabinets?
A: It is for you to purchase a set and own it for yourself, and use it on the arcade versions of Taiko no Tatsujin. (See below on how to obtain)
            3. Q: Did the Team commission the Official MyBachis because there are so many hard notecharts now?
A: No. There is no relation between the Official MyBachis and notechart difficulty. The idea for Official MyBachis came much longer before this, and so happens to coincide with hard notecharts in timing.
            4. Q: Will there are more hard notecharts after releasing the Official MyBachis?
A: No, none will change from what it has been until now. As stated before, there is no relation between the Official MyBachis and notechart difficulty.
            5. Q: Can you use it in World Championship?
A: It is usable in WCS2016.
※ Except store preliminaries and elementary regional preliminaries
※ Can be loaned to those who want to use but does not own a set in area preliminaries and elementary finals
            How to obtain?
As of now the Official MyBachi accepts pre-order at selected Namco arcade shops (full list at original post) until February 14 2016. The products can be collected from the same shop when they are stocked in early March (no shipping arranged). Purchasing the sticks by this method also gives you a bonus outfit for AC0, details of which will come later.

A limited stock will also be available at the four sessions of the Next-Generation World Hobby Fair '16 Winter event in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka. Again, more details when the time approaches. Other further releases will be continually decided and announced as time goes.

Following the White ver. Update Post, Asia's Murasaki ver. also has Norudon 2000 becoming available at default. The four limited unlocks from livestream goals are also opening on schedule. No official announcements from the official FB page yet though.
Addendum (2015/12/11): Limited release announcement here

But there are also reports that following these additions Asian cabinets are suffering from a fatal error, where a lot of supposedly Japan-exclusive songs becoming choosable on the song list, but crashes the game when actually chosen (eg. this tweet by a Korean Donder, when Getta Banban is not supposed to be on Asian Murasaki yet).

According to some of the Asian Donders, asking for a full reboot of the cabinet done by arcade staff should help with the situation. Before that, try to avoid songs that shouldn't be playable o not lose a credit.

Addendum (2015/12/12):Norudon 2000 opening is apparently also part of the problem too. Other irregularities that happened include Kechadon 2000 and Many wow bang! disappearing, both being unlockable in Japan but default in Asia.

With all the new and exciting stuff coming to the Taiko musical universe in recent times, it's often refreshing to step back and feature some exclusive tracks from Taiko gaming's eldest installments.

For today's case, we have a really elusive, arcade-exclusive track from the 1st arcade generation!

             Genghis Khan (ジンギスカン(GENGHIS KHAN))
            Version
            Allx2 (151)x3 (199) x4 (361)x6 (461)
             Taiko 4
             142
             Dance (Variety)

As we've already seen in the past, the early Taiko games' licensed musical library tried to cater the general public with both popular Japanese hits and Western songs that got high recognition in Japan as well. For the latter category, there's also the German pop/disco song Dschinghis Khan (translated in 'Genghis Khan' for the Japanese release), most famously performed by the eponymous German band in 1979.

The song made its debut for the 1979 Eurovision Song Contest, as West Germany's representative song. Composed by Ralph Siegel and lyricised by Bernd Meinunger, the song (whose title is a direct German translation of Genghis Khan) puts into song praises to the titular Mongol warrior's military and sexual prowess, being staged live with representations of drunk-looking Mongol dancers and a caricature of Genghis Khan himself. The unit who performed the song was made of six members -Wolfgang and Henriette Heichel, Edina Pop, Leslie Mandoki, Louis Potgieter and Karl-Heinz "Steve" Bender- who formed an actual band (again, named as the performed track's title) after the aforementioned song contest performance.

Despite the Dschinghis Khan song missing the Eurovision '79 podium by a finch (ranking 4th place with 86 points), it warranted a high popularity enough for cover versions of any sorts from around the world, mostly from Europe (Finland, Spain, Sweden) and Asian performers from Thailand, Hong Kong and Korea. The highest popularity peak in the East was from Japan, where the Dschinghis Khan band's breakthrough single managed to sell over 100.000 copies from its digital release in Japan, warranting the Gold status in 2014. In Japan, the song received a cover version by Japanese idol group Berryz Kobo (Berryz工房) in 2008, and later in the same year it was released the Dschinghis Kan Tartar Mix, merging the talents of both the Berryz Kobo unit and the surviving members of the German Dschinghis Khan band.

The 4th Taiko arcade game received a cover version of the original songs, with notecharts fro all modes provided by Oosawa (ササオカ). For the time being, the 6-starred Donderful mode proved itself to be a worthy challenge for Taiko trainees back in the day, due to the high density of both even and odd-numbered note clusters along the way which -while mostly being mono colored- put to test the player's skills of following the song's rhythm in different ways.

Released on December 2015, this is the 7th firmware board for the third arcade generation, and the 5th one whose title-defining theme is a color, this time around being the color white.

Of all the Taiko 0 firmware boards being released to this point, this is by far the only one which has not introduced/updated any of the features from the previous versions. In a nutshell, White Version simply inherits great part of Murasaki Version's song selection and features, while also adding more customization elements from the already-introduced Banapassport functions and songs, managing to become the first Taiko game with over 500 songs at launch.

Despite not bringing anything new to the table, it's still remarkable for the time frame it was released, being the third firmware in a row to be hosting both cross-over events and major Taiko tournaments.

Months after the early teasers from the composer (some of which also made their way in our blog!), t+pazolite finally revealed the identity and content of his 3rd solo album, slated to a December 31st release this year at the Comic Markey 89 East Area as a timed exclusive.

Ponko2 Girlish is the official name for the album that t+pazo also teased during the Taiko Team livestream of November '15. In that occasion, it was already revealed that the album will be having a long version of Shiny Kung-fu Revival, his first track on Taiko games. But the longer version won't be the only Taiko-themed treat...

The audio clip above comes from aran's remix of Shiny Kung-fu Revival, which will also be included in the Ponko2 Girlish album. For those who are closely following the arcade scene, aran is an independent composer who had one of his songs (KUSANAGI) published as one of Taiko White Version's new Namco Original tracks.

Bringing the year 2015 to a close (on the live appearances side of events), the Taiko Team is back for the yearly, all-night-long livestream marathon for the next big arcade firmware release, this time around being pleased by more console games talk and a big load of guest stars!

Before the broadcast's actual beginning, Eto has hosted a small pre-livestream portion to talk with the early viewers, together with the returning Daifuku and Takemoto.

After some fun chatting (complete with newcomer chalkboard decoration talk, no less!), we already are greeted with the usual Comments Challenge card for the livestrea. Needless to say, all comments goals were broken, long before the 'all-night-long' portion!

In a nutshell, though, the pre-livestream portion has mostly been the occasion to look a little bit into the preparation of the broadcast itself.

For this broadcast, that meant preparing the musical instruments for the live performances (with Linda AI-Cue supervising the operations) and testing out the green screen effects for the live music video performances. It's also the best occasion to goof up a little bit with those special effects!

At the livestream's official beginning, we are greeted with the return of Masubutchi and the presentation of the anticipated Idolm@ster autograph reward for one random viewer of the show, in occasion of the Must Songs games' imminent release.

Right after that, we're in for a treat! The Taiko no Tatsujin series's overall producer, Ken Nakadate (中館賢), appears out of nowhere to see with the Team which name will be chosen for the mouse drummer of the Taiko Studio Ghibli short.

And the results are in! With over 37% of the votes, Mouchu (まうちゅー) is the Taiko mouse's name. I wonder if we'll ever see this guy in future Taiko titles as a proper character...

With Nakadate leaving, it's finally time for the Namco Stage segment, in which the highly anticipated artist guests have performed live some of their Taiko songs, after some signatures and a brief interview with Kawagen Collagen.

First in line were the Tanqun Democracy girls, which this time around made it in person to be attending the livestream, together with their producer. For the occasion, the girls have also brought some drawings made beforehand the broadcast, depicting the singers in different kind of fictinal situations. Be it with seals of yokai creatures, it's always time to be cheerful!

Unfortunately, no Youtube footage can be found of the Tanquun Democracy performing live the extended version of Natsumono☆, their latest Taiko song. For those who are interested, however, the Nicovideo livestream's rerun is always here for Premium users to enjoy for the remainder of this year.

Up next is the turn of newcomer HONOKA, who performed her Taiko debut track Love Fantasy one day prior its White Version release. Just like for Tanqun, the performance was held with the help of green screen video magic and -again- is not to be found on Youtube...

Recurring singer Sariya-jin was next in line for the corner, also being the first one to perform two songs (Marble Heart and Zero no Nocturne) with the help of the in-house musicians, with Masubutchi on the drums and Taku Inoue (pictured behind HONOKA in the previous snapshot) at the guitar.

After fiddling with her cellphone for a while, Haruko Momoi's performance was the last in line for the female side of the corner, performing live her STAY GOLD song I my moko and her signature Namco Original contribution Wonder Momoi. Luckily for us, we have a video link for the performance in question, for those who are interested in!

Last but not least, Taku Inoue stepped in from his musical assist role to perform live Ten Bin-za Kyuko Yoru o Iku, his debut Taiko track which is scheduled to be appearing next year. Unfortunately, there are no audio/video recordings of the live performance, but we at least know that Taku Inoue is both playing the guitar and singing for the song!

Going into break time once again, a parade of Murasaki Version's Dojo Ranking raiders was shown to celebrate the mode's best rankers. Below is the full list, in video form!

After the break, the next hour-and-a-quarter of time was all about the Official MyBachi drumsticks for personal playstyle and (optional) tool for custom -but still fair- competitive tourney action on the arcade side of things. Since Etou was already nice to sum up everything about the MyBachi in last Thursday's Taiko blog entry(thank God), the only thing left for us to show you is how the portable drumsticks should look like!

As shown in the picture below, the definitive length of the portable bachis should be between 40 and 60 centimeters.

Coming up next is a brief talk about the Taiko 2016 World Tourney, with the first two phases' dates being fixed for both the Middle-School-And-Up and Elementary-And-Under divisions, with the Preliminary phase taking place respectively on March and April while the 2nd phase begins on May and in Early Summer for the two divisions.

An updated infographic shows us the two aforementioned divisions and one extra space to the bottom, dedicated to overseas players! But, as this teaser states, we have to wait the next Niconico Tokaigi event to learn more about this big Taiko arcade tourney.

Around this point, the 30k comments goal was already broken, calling for a small poll to decide the new free title part. As you can also see below, 17 Years Old (17歳) was the ultimate winner!

In a quick flurry of informations, a lot of new content announcements were made about the newcomer arcade firmware! At launch, White Version promises new unlockable outfits (like the ones pictured below) and the issuing of a new multi-part Title Parts Gacha, with Part 1 already live alongside White Version's launch.

White Version's first software update was also announced for a December 24th release date, planning to bring back the four songs below from the most recent console releases and -for the case of Doraemon no Uta- from Taiko gaming's most ancient past!

Another beloved feature will come back next year, as White Version's first DonChare monthly unlocks is returning next January. The rewards are Namco Original revival Kurofune Raikou and the 2-part Kabuki outfit, with the body piece awarded by playing once and the head gear available as a limited Rewards Shop item.

Another new arcade feature that is coming on December 24th is the Taiko x Love Live! collaboration event, bringing custom dancers to the Love Live! songs as well as Petit Chara figurines of the Anime series' girls. Check out the event's official website for bigger pictures! (Our brief post about the event helps too).

White Version's launch window also appears to be busier than expected, as a smaller tournament event will take place next February, right before the big 2016 tourney!

Working much like the previous month-long tournaments, this one will only feature the Oni division, starring three 8-star challenges to compete with for the highest score.

What's different from the previous mini-tourneys is that this one will feature new songs on January in order to gear up the skills! Three new songs will be made available only in the stores/arcade rooms holding the tournament matches: Taku Inoue's Ten Bin-za Kyuko Yoru o Iku, Heaven's Rider(...a sequel to Phantom Rider?) and All In My Heart, by Somei Yoshino.

There's something to enjoy for everyone, even for those who aren't participating in the competition! Banapassport users who play on White Version arcades in the tourney stores will earn Don Stamps and Katsu Tickets to unlock some of the tourney's songs to every arcade!

More specifically, Ten Bin-za Kyuko Yoru o Iku will be available in the week beginning on January 8th, while Heaven's Rider is up on the week after that. There's no word on the third song's public release, but it might be right behind the corner. Don Challenge, perhaps?

Outside players can also earn Taiko goodies by spectating the tourney's matches! Up to 15 Petit Charas will make their debut as freebies for the Banapassport spectators, including popular Taiko character like Fuuga and Mirai from the 4th Wii title.

Last but not least, the tournament-holding stores will sell a limited-edition Banapassport card starring Tatsu-Don, everyone's favorite anthropomorphic prank drum came true!

The participating stores will be easy to recognize, as they'll display promotional posters/material about the event and their White Version arcades will display the tourney's logo on the top left corner!

Now that all the arcade business for the day was done, Oosawa and Dark Attribute (TOMOKI) step in to talk with the team about V Version and Atsumete Tomodachi Daisakusen.

This time around, the V Version corner  wasn't about future content previews, but rather for having a look back at all the songs that have been made available for the game, between the base songs and DLC content.

Among these, Dark Attribute was particularly eager to try clearing Silent Jealousy Ura with the Kanpeki modifier (=no misses allowed), ... only to be failing at the 37th-or-so note. Well, it's a 10-star Oni after all!

If there's a console game who got future content announced, that's the third Wii U installment for sure! The songs and outfit parts below will be made available on December 24th (as Tatsu-Don reminds), with the songs being free of charge.

Another event being mentioned for the console corner is the Taiko x EXILE collaboration lottery (of which we also talked about here), featuring Taiko goods from Atsumete Tomodachi Daisakusen's Tatacon bundle edition, EXILE goods and the Taiko x Studio Ghibli blanket below.

The last thing mentioned in the console corner is Taiko Plus' new trio of songs for the Gakkyoku Tori Houdai service, listed below.

With TOMOKI and Oosawa leaving, notecharter sentai Kuboken appears in the guise of Donchan (in the title name card, at least) to talk about the Idolm@ster Must Song games with the rest of the Team. Also, light sticks!

Essentially, this corner was more about the Idolm@ster franchise lore in general rather than the twin Taiko games, as the presentation begins with a slide about the 10th Anniversary year's content who touched Taiko gaming in 2015.

And after speaking a while about some of Kuboken's charted songs, it's time for the fated return of an old acquaintance!

Aah, that mountain. It's good to see you again, old friend.

...okay, aside from the fact that the Team hasn't changed their PC's wallpaper since the last livestreams, they had some technical issues for when they tried to open up a video for the Im@s segment. What has been aired, though, it's nothing new-just another trailer for the games, explaining stuff that was already digressed in the past mini-series of videos from Bandai Namco's Youtube channel.

For this segment, however, Linda AI-Cue pops back to talk about the songs in the games he composed, aside of adding an extra layer of challenge for the livestream's mini contest for the Must Songs idol autographs shown at the stream's beginning.

Some time during the talk, everyonje has hid their lightstick, and the viewers had to guess which color was Kuboken's. Among all the people who guessed right, one lucky viewer was picked at random for the prize

At this point I'd tell you guys to try guessing which was the correct answer but come on, I've already posted at least two screenshots with the light sticks in full display!

The last portion before the midnight wake segment is about the Synchronica team, talking about the much anticipated 2nd Taiko collaboration event.

On the Synchronica side, the arcades will receive the Winter-themed song Toryu from Taiko games, complete with a rather sublime picture!

This time around, even Taiko players will get something fancy to play around with! Described by some cuddly drawings, if Banapassport users will play Synchronica and Taiko arcades right after the Synchronica play, some pleasant surprises may arrive... in form of 2 new songs!

If you feel the urge to remember the passages in song, the Team has also worked out a small jingle for the campaign. How nice of them!

From the info-graphic sheet below, we come to know that the two Synchronica songs unlocked on Taiko are Taku Inoue's theme song for the game, Synchronicity, and the Classic arrangement New World from LAGITAGIDA. Three cross plays between Synchronica and Taiko no Tatsujin are required in order to unlock both songs (only 1 cycle for Synchronicity).

In more Synchronica-related news, the unlocks of the previous "Synchronica in Summer" limited event will come back for next year's beginning, with the added unlockable contents of New Year avatar pieces and Bandai Original song Snow Light, from AJURIKA.

After one quick poll for deciding a free title part for Synchronica games, the all-night-long portion finally came, and with that the long wait for the Must Songs/White Version games' release.

During this time, Kuboken has had the opportunity to talk a bit about his notecharting works on Taiko songs in general, Etou has offered a nice close-up to the background chalkboard's decorations (complete with the guests' autographs) and Masubutchi has had the opportunity to grant the drumming requests of the still-awake viewers. One of which -involving the man playing Namco Original Canadea on drums- has also been published on Youtube for posterity's sake!

This concludes our trip to what has been the Taiko Team's last livestream broadcast for the year 2015. We hope you had fun reading (or re-living) this experience as much as we enjoyed seeing it live!

Even when there are forked paths
I know you are watching me next to me

I do not lose for the sake of anything
Even though those are things you have always known
            Somehow though I became lonely
When I look up, you are there

            The tear-streaked face not shown
All the time I have put away the heart
Therefore when I find it, I will admit it

            Running through this road
Even when there are forked paths, we don't let go our hands
            Never giving away to anyone
            I am all for myself
I know you are watching me next to me

Taiko no Tatsujin Manga! This manga was drawn by Junji Oono, published in 2005 by Kodansha, and serialized in Comic Bon Bon.It really is quite a quirky manga, featuring Don-chan, Kat-chan, and all of TnoT’s characters in some very interesting situations. It is very silly in nature (even the front cover is telling!) and it is certain to give a few laughs.I haven’t seen it anywhere else up on the internet, and so, I decided to scan in this book and share it with you all! Plus, the blog allows for being able to view it without having to deal with filesharing and the like.If it is preferable though, I wouldn’t mind making it so it is available on fileshare, but I do need some guidance in that regard. Please keep in mind that this book has not been translated, and so, it is only available in its native Japanese (for now anyway).I will try to set it up so that there is a new page each day (until it finishes of course). If that seems too slow, then I’ll up it to 2 pages a day.For now, I am posting them as I have scanned them in (approx. 9X7 inches at 300dpi)I am always appreciative of feedback regarding size and quality of the pages. With that being said, I hope you will enjoy reading the Taiko no Tatsujin manga!

The Taiko no Tatsujin manga series was made in 2005 for the children-oriented manga magazine Comic BomBom, publisher Kodansha's only kodomo publication (=mainly aimed to children). It was made by Junji Oono (大野純二), creator of other series such as Shiritsu Justice Gakuen, D-Cloth and -in more recent times- Kidou Senshi Gundam Gaiden - Missing Link.

Basically, this is a comedy-oriented series starring Don-Chan and many other characters from the Taiko universe that have been introduced up to the 5th Playstation 2 game's release. Being a yonkoma (4コマ漫画, lit. "4-Cell Manga"), this series wasn't made with the concept of an overarching storyline behind it, but rather as a series of 1-story scenarios for quirky gags involving the Taiko no Tatsujin characters.

In late 2005, the whole series was published in a separated volume, of which the picture above is the front cover.

As often happened to us in the past, the launch of multiple Taiko games in a day can hide from our eyes minor news to location-limited events, such as this occasion for the Huis Ten Bosch's Taiko no Tatsujin 3D Projection play.

With White Version going live in public arcades all across Japan, the special activity at the aforementioned amusement park got a new shipment of songs, which we're also listing below:

Following the report of Asian Murasaki's song list going haywire on Japan White release date, the official Asian Facebook page released a statement on Monday (December 14) stating the error rooted from inadequate confirmation and should have been perfectly preventable, and the Team apologizes for all the inconvenience that is subsequently caused. The errors are since fixed.
(Taiko Time note: Is that what happens when you send White ver. data to Murasaki ver. cabinets without good enough tweaks? The version difference makes all the wrong happen?)

And to a more regular and celebratory note, the results of the triple-deal December 2015 Facebook Tournament are out today (December 16). In short, South Korea's Sesan won both Oni departments with DFC in Shiuryu and 4-good FC in !!!Chaos Time!!!, while Hong Kong's Iyaro took Muzukashii !!!Chaos Time!!! champion with a 2-good FC. In addition to the top-class Donders from Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea, the tables also give spotlight praise to outstanding results from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and India Indonesia. Good job everyone!
Erratum (2015/12/17): Was too sleepy to recognize IDN = Indonesia (post made at local time 22:48). I apologizzzzz...

The next tournament will start with the song announcement on January 6, 2016 and the actual run across January 9~17 and the results announcement on the 20th. Does it allow a time for White ver. to happen to the greater Asia area? All we know about the new version is that preparations are underway and more will be released in due time (and that Murasaki Ranking Dojo are still running in Asia as of now, contrary to that closed in Japan - finally we have something better than them!)

The dawn is like a note of hope
            Overflowing with light
If music is played with gathered power
Today will then be another courageous journey
            I can hear your voice
I have been waiting for you to deliver your feelings
Let's go and continue our journey
Music spread far and wide banishes the darkness
            The two moons overlap
Like destiny, the two of us meet
            I was waiting
Ah, the sky is shining brightly
Music spread far and wide eliminates the darkness
            The two moons overlap
Like that moment, the two of us meet
And unite as a single melody

...and by Wii U3 papercraft we mean one that you make an actual Wii U3 bundle box that is foldable into an actual box. Who stops anyone to print it extra large and make it 1:1 life-sized though?
