Rurou no Kohakuhime (流浪の琥珀姫) (3/4/5/8; 495 notes on Oni)

February's DLC song pack for Session de Dodon ga Don has brought up a new Namco Original track from the recurring composer/singer couple of Drop and Yura Hatsuki, as testified by a tweet left from the singer herself last year (link)!

On the difficulty spectrum, this one fares on the average side of things, with the predominant 1/16 notecharting and 3/4 beat stanzas being the signature features of its Oni mode.

English
Those people who annoyingly offer me endless advices are merely talking to themselves.
I've struck a rock and become covered in bruises.
I wish I could, via a signal bypass, get a share of
others' sensation of pain sent from their frontal lobes.

This absurdity would not go away. I'm wearing my school swimsuit.
As I spew out vomit, maybe I need to defragment my wild fantasies.
Because I didn't keep my eyes on the road, my face is now badly injured.
I don't really care anyhow. I just want to eat some macarons.

If I match myself to the capricious rhythm
and bump up my femininity with a "one, two, step",
apparently even the nonchalant asexual boys
will let themselves be loved by me.

I'll skip the impossible game of landing a job
by not showing up at my interview and burning my own bridge.
Because I lost my cellphone, I am now losing the soundness of my mind.
(※There might be a problem with my autonomic nervous system.)

If you're talking so big and pompously
only because you want the pleasure from the rubbing between a male and a female,
then just strike me with that thing you have that looks like a rod.

Crimson flowers areblooming everywhere.
I am a brain matter explosion girl.

Come, let's dance as if we're crazy.
After all, on this day 100 years later,
everyone will have died anyway.
Please hold me tight right now.
I want to drown deeper in the narcotics in my brain
and wade all the way to the other side of the universe.

Come, let's dance as if we're crazy.
Without a doubt, 100 years later
I will be reborn as a beautiful girl.
After I have shed this stale body,
I will make my brain secrete even more juice,
and let my climax take me all the way to the other side of the moon.

Song of the Week! 24 February 2018

Today on our spotlight are a couple of licensed picks that I'd like to classify as 'Song Series False Friends', with titles hinting to well-established Namco Original song series that are instead J-Pop tracks that have no relation with the actual Taiko no Tatsujin song series tropes and its composers.

 LOVE 2000 hitomi
Version
Allx3 (139)x4 (205)x5 (355)x6 (500)
 Taiko 13, 14, Taiko +
 170
 none
 love2k

Starting with what the average Taiko fan might see as a clickbait-y song title, we have one prominent track from the 2nd arcade generation's end. It's safe to say that Linda AI-CUE has had nothing to do with LOVE 2000's creation, as said song's debut actually predates the beginning of the iconic '2000' Namco Original family of songs!

Composed by Masato Kamata (鎌田匡人) and arranged by Zentaro Watanabe (渡辺善太郎), LOVE 2000 came out on June 28th, 2000 as part of the namesake maxi album by Japanese singer/songwriter hitomi. Born Hitomi Furuya (古谷仁美) in the Japanese city of Toshigi, she started her career as a teen model before being picked up by producer Tetsuya Komuro for the production of pop music. After a few years under the guidance of the experienced composer, hitomi's will of musical and themes experimentation let to an amicable split from Komuro in 1998, leading to different collaboration projects and a more independent production direction for her style in general.

One of hitomi's first hits after the split was LOVE 2000, which has been picked up as the image song of professional runner Naoko Takahashi (高橋尚子) due to its energetic vibes. With Naoko Takahashi winning a gold medal in the 2000 Summer Olympics, hitomi's LOVE 2000 got a wider exposure in Japan, with the mega single peaking 5th in the weekly Oricon charts (and ranked as No.78 track in 2000) as well as being one of the more recurrent themes for Nippon TV's professional baseball broadcast since the third millennium's inception. Later on, LOVE 2000 was featured again in hitomi's 5th studio album: Love Life, released on December 13th of the same year.

The Oni notechart is quite the standard affair for upbeat songs with a mid-high predominant BPM value, consisting in a full 1/16 notechart with some special notes along the way.

For a more recent pick, here's a song that despite being named after the Greek/Roman god of a-thousand-and-one talents is not related to Taiko gaming's recent God Collection trend! It's also the 5th song from a Japanese unit that has quite the peculiar track record in this music game series...

The rock band from from the Hiroshima prefecture known as Porno Graffiti (ポルノグラフィティ) was founded in 1994, as a result to the earliest musical experiences of the act founder and lead guitarist Haruichi Shindo (新藤晴一, often referred to with the stage naming 'ハルイチ') and his cousin. During their high school years, the two have founded the original band under the name "No Score", as a reference to its members being unable to read musical scores during their early years. Shortly after his cousin's detachment from the act, Haruichi asked two more people to join: bassist/background singer Masami "Tama" Shiratama (who left in 2004) and  lead singer Akihito 'ak-homma' Okano (本間昭光), finalizing Porno Graffiti's first lineup. The band's name was chose after one of Boston rock band Extreme's studio album releases: 1990's Extreme II: Pornograffitti.

Porno Graffiti's first single was Apollo, whose lyrics and theme were inspired by the USA's third spaceflight program, known as the Apollo Program/Project Apollo. This kind of association was also heavily attached to the band's earliest recognition, with the general public tending to refer to the act as 'Apollo Graffiti' instead. The single premiered on September 8th, 1999, peaking at the No.5 spot in the weekly Oricon charts as well as being ranked No.63 in the Best Song category of its release year. Later in the years, Apollo was featured in 2004's PORNO GRAFFITI BEST BLUE'S studio album and in 2016 it was re-released as the "Recurrent Edition" maxi single.

Porno Graffiti songs in Taiko gaming is usually quite the niche subject to talk about, as each of the currently-available tracks tend to only have a single Taiko game appearance overall, a trend that hasn't applied to the very-recent Anime license Oh! Rival but that has come back full force with Apollo, currently being a PS4-exclusive song. Despite the low star rating and the absence of note clusters, it's crucial to properly weight in the song's speedy pace while playing, as having an accuracy drop under these circumstances is an easy affair for this Oni mode...

Drawing a parallel with the recently-released Dragon Ball Super OP theme Gekkai Toppa x Survivor, here's a huge star difficulty bump between the regular Oni and its Ura Oni counterpart! While we got no updates on the impending iOS song packs removal for Taiko Plus, the month is starting with renewed collaborative efforts from the Japanese pro wresling league! LOVE & ENERGY, the entrance theme of Hiroshi Tanahashi (棚橋弘至), will be available for everyone to play for free for the entire month of March, together with the formerly-released, wrestling-related song RAINMAKER. Both tracks have also been added to the Gakkyoku Tori Houdai subscription plan, making them available to paying users even after the promo campaign.

Once that video footage of the song will be available, we're updating the front page with a video recording of the song in action (rated 2/2/5/7).

After the jump are instead today's other additions to Taiko Plus' GTH mode, available for both versions of the app together with the two aforementioned Variety picks.

Mirroring the dreadful blog entry notice of a few weeks back, greater Asia's arcade players will see the loss of selected licensed picks, coinciding with the Japanese release of Blue Version (March 15th). After the jump are listed all the removed songs from the non-Japanese arcades.

Song of the Week! 3 March 2018

On this very same day, six years ago, we've had our very first period of themed Song of the Week entries, with our first month-centric focus being put on the Idolm@ster franchise. Much has changed for the collaboration landscape of Bandai Namco's popular music series with Taiko gaming, up to the point of crossing roads in more (and deeper!) ways than ever before!

The course of events that have led us to today's same-day blog occurrance have brought us to the decision of having yet another month full of Idolm@ster song reviews in Taiko history, for what is also going to become a first for us: a full month of guaranteed Ura Oni song features for each of March's articles. Now that the stage is set, it's time to let the producer-trained performers shine once more, for an entire month here on Taiko Time!

Back in 2012, our first Idolm@ster month feature (link) was started by featuring the franchise's very own flagship song, so it only makes sense for us to star one of its later remixes to kickstart this very themed month, isn't it? Based on the original song composed by Hiroto Sasaki (佐々木宏人) and lyricised by Megumi Nakamura (中村恩恵), this dance-styled remix of THE IDOLM@STER is brought to us by Akitaka 'AJURIKA' Tohyama (遠山明孝), who made this arrangement for the first of the games of the '2nd Vision' project series: 2011's THE iDOLM@STER 2.

The 2nd-mix is the third official remix of the original track, with the former two variants -simply dubbed as 'Remix A' and 'Remix B'- making their debuts as DLCs for the previously-released im@s game Live for You! The lifespan of the 2nd-mix in the series has also been extended by DLC means, being available years later in the series' latest titles for PlayStation systems: the PS3's ONE FOR ALL and the PS4's freshly-released Stella Stage. As opposed to the original THE IDOLM@STER which is used to be performed in-game by an idol trio alone, the 2nd-mix can be played with a set of 1, 2, 3 or 5 dancers, showcasing one of the debut 2nd Vision game's features.

It's possible to get a hold of the 2nd-mix on Taiko only through one of the Must Songs games for the Ps Vita, serving as the Blue Album version's theme song. With its playable cut being longer than the one of the original THE IDOLM@STER, this remix has a slightly lower note density per second, but the upbeat pace and its relentless procession of note triplets in varying formations a-la Ikenai Taiyou on Oni is sure set to steal some missed-note judgement from the uncareful 1st-time player! As an homage to the original song, its Oni mode -charted by Taiko Team member Kuboken (くぼけん)- sports a Nam-Combo note count as well.

In the past, we've seen plenty of newcomer songs in Taiko gaming that were used as pre-order bonus incentives (...and hell, you can even recall an Idolm@ster song among those, too), but let it be known that this is also true for the idol-boosted music series, such is the case of our very next pick!

Composed by the nick-named Yoshi and lyricized by Asahisai (朝日祭), shiny smile made its debut in the series as a pre-order bonus track for the aforementioned THE iDOLM@STER: Live for You!, getting a couple of remixes for the game's later DLC catalog just like for THE IDOLM@STER's first couple of remixed renditions. The album debut of shiny smile dates back to February 13th, 2008, with the release of the first album in the series' MASTER LIVE series, under the title of THE IDOLM@STER MASTER LIVE 00. Since the inception of the 2nd Vision games, the song has been associated with the in-game idol Hibiki Ganaha (我那覇響) as her personal track.

The group version of shiny smile is the main one to be featured in Taiko games, starting with the two versions of the Taiko 11 arcade and the 2nd Nintendo DS title with the "1st-generation" games' canon set of custom dancers. Its Oni mode bears a pure 1/16 notechart set which is played without any kind of odd spacing between the notes/clusters.

Many years went by and shiny smile got revived as part of the Taiko and Idolm@ster series' jointed anniversary celebrations, with the former Oni mode becoming playable as an Ura Oni and the regular Oni spot being filled in with a more modern chart, and one of the few to keep the same star rating as the former Oni, no less! Modern charting tropes for song of the series getting Taiko ports are up on check, from off-beat charting to the average base BPM value's changes and the 'Call' portions with mono-color clusters.

Together with the revival, the renewed set of custom dancers for Idolm@ster songs has been applied to accustom the full cast from the 2nd Vision's debut game. It's also worth noting that the Must Song game that bears the song also features the solo version by Hibiki Ganaha as an unlockable variant, with the same notechart sets as for the other song variants in the twin games.

"Good luck out there~"

A nice dream I had during afternoon nap time
Like a chase scene pulling away from the focus
The two running with the blue bike within the tidal breeze

With the aim to maintain peace on Earth
Hailing from far away stars
But while holding at the shoulders in the leafy shade on a beach
That mission is soon forgotten
Thump-thump, thump-thump, Momo

Now that someone is calling for me
I awoke in the nick of time
The chance of love is running away
Even within my dreams

"Transform~"

Aboard the Warudemon stronghold alone
The end of the army is marked upon by these hands

Breath attack by the Tyranno, tentacle of the Turbonoid
Will take on the final finishing blow: Jumping Kick
The dancing Shamoan, Mozu and Amazona too
All annihilated by myself
Aaah, Fighting Girl

The sorrowful sparkle on the remains under the glow of the sunrise
All by myself, looking right back into the days of fighting
Embracing the solitude

In the world that is this blue planet, with no enemies here or allies too
Going on to live and love for each other, that's would be Momo's wish
To the children born to the universe without border
The wondrous things we should go convey, aiming for the future as in the dreams

But as you know, despite the overwhelming support for the rally, the Taiko Team on the Asian ver. Facebook has not responded well and is still just pushing out canned-as-ever announcements.

So as Yellow ver. approaches its end (even though Blue ver. still undated), the Hiroba-nai Movement will move onto another front and takes on the Ranking Dojo as well. In short, in addition to the monthly tournaments, Donders are encouraged to also use their ひろばない (Hiroba-nai) profiles to take on the Ranking Dojo trials, in the hopes to also fill the version-end ranked-in list with the tagline.

As from the announcement for Red ver., they will be listing all successful rankers from 8-dan (八段) and up, so if you are interested feel free to try from there. Even if you can't get past 8-dan, the Movement still encourages you to try nonetheless at a level you are more attuned; it's the thought that counts anyway.

To end this rally, let us also remind ourselves of the songs that do not get to greater Asia in a parody commercial for the Asian ver. Yellow ver., which the count has reached 100 since.

One week prior to the Blue Version release day, we're getting the obligatory reminder about what will and won't be carried over for Banapassport players in this latest arcade firmware transition. As it's the very same kind of speech as in previous instances of this kind of notice, here's a slightly-modified copy-pasta concerning the most important topics:
  • All takeover data from the Banapassport accounts are referring to all the data recorded up until Yellow Version's last official operating day (Mar 14th);
  • All the data concerning the Taiko Avatar (appearance), played songs (crowns, performance details for each not-removed songs) and unlocked rewards will be carried over, as well as most of the Donder Plaza's user profiles and related settings and the amount of Don/Katsu Medals earned;
  • Everything about the removed songs (and the related crowns), Donder Plaza's Challenge/My News History log (Kigurumi outfit, ranking history, removed songs as favorite tracks) and Yellow Version's Dojo Ranking mode won't be carried over.
For what concerns the Rewards Shop lineup, the Don Medals seasonal shop will stay to the currently-active lineups as of Yellow Version's discontinuation: the Yellow Ver. Winter shop, the regular Katsu Medal permanent shop and the permanent Title Parts gacha.

Random: Taiko no Tatsujin for Nintendo Switch? A Revisit with New Evidence

In random news hinted by the wikihouse comment section, some people have found that the domain http://switch.taiko-ch.net/ is now something hidden behind authentication locks, instead of a dead or non-existent link. You know what that stands for, right?

Be that as it may, there is no actual concrete information as of the writing of this post (for example, that rating-pending slot for the Switch title we have seen last year is still pending). The only waypoint we are confortable to provide is the Nintendo Direct livestream on March 9 2018 at 07:00.

Taiko no Tatsujin - Nintendo Switch Version!

Earlier in the day, we echoed back the random findings from Japanese wiki wikihouse about the one Taiko game we've been teased from last year's beginning. With the recently-broadcast Nintendo Direct live recording, the Japanese run has finally shown that yes, there's indeed a Taiko no Tatsujin game in the works for the Switch and yes, it's coming this very year!

Feature-wise, the video reveals that the Switch's trademark Joycon peripheral's sides can be detached and used as air-Bachi sticks to play as one of its control schemes! Other aspects that have been slightly touched upon in the Taiko segment are the returning multiplayer and a new minigame-based mode to boot.

Coming to the song selection, only four tracks have been revealed thus far: series-recurring Carmen Prelude and Natsu Matsuri as well as two Game Music tracks from recent Nintendo games: a short version of Super Mario Odyssey's Jump Up, Super Star! and a Splatoon 2 Medley (the same one that Blue Version is getting in a few days for its launch).

No precise release date yet, as we've been given a generic Summer 2018 placeholder. Stay tuned!

While the core set of idols from the 765 Production games have always gathered quite the sustained following along the years, the Cinderella Project spin-off managed to become just as relevant, with an estimated monthly net gain of 1 billion Yen for the first Cinderella Girls mobile game. It only comes natural to assume that such a heated appreciation would have brought up in animated form someday!

Premiered on January 2015 and counting two 13-episodes seasons, THE iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls (アイドルマスター シンデレラガールズ) is the Anime show produced by the A-1 Pictures studio that is based on (and titled after) the first title in the aforementioned Idolm@ster spin-off series. Just like in the related apps, the series focuses on some of the idols that are enrolled in the 346 Production talent agency, with an heavier attention to the three debuting idols of the 'new generations' unit, the last trio to join the so-dubbed "Cinderella Project" act. Much like for other Idolm@ster animated series, lots of songs from the pre-released games/albums have their chance to be featured in the show's episodes, with some brand new tracks backing them up as well. GOIN'!!! joins the latter category, being the Anime-debut track that is played as an insert song on episodes 13 and 22.

Composed by Mayu Miyazaki (宮崎まゆ) and lyricized by Yukiko Mori (森由里子), this is one of the coral songs on Taiko that is performed by the whole Cinderella Project cast from the 6 different sub-unit projects: new generations (Uzuki Shimamura, Rin Shibuya and Mio Honda), LOVE LAIKA (Minami Nitta and Anastasia), Rosenburg Engel (Ranko Kanzaki), CANDY ISLAND (Anzu Futaba, Kanako Kimura and Chieri Ogata), Decoration (Kirari Moroboshi, Rika Jougasaki and Miria Akagi) and * (Asterisk) (Miku Maekawa and Riina Tada). With the song GOIN'!!! debuting on Murasaki Version during the first half of 2015, a later Cinderella Girls collaboration from the same year has made it so that all the aforementioned idols from the Cinderella Project would become event-exclusive unlockables as well, joining the new generations cast which got their Petit Chara forms with an earlier arcade event.

As a pure 1/16 notechart with mono-color cluster and several sparse notes, GOIN'!!!'S Oni mode is distinguishable among many other from the 6-star for a couple of factors: the modern Idolm@ster songs' Call notechart quirks with the short Go-Go Time bursts and the total note count of 346, calling back to the Cinderella Girls franchise's 346Pro talent agency.

More complex cluster formations await the players of GOIN'!!!'s Ura Oni mode, starring the same Go-Go Time bust quirks and yet another pure 1/16 charting set. The Cinderella Girls lore oozes even more in this notechart as well, with the featured hit-balloon requiring 14 hits to be cleared, one for each member of the Cinderella Project act!

The idol network of references, however, doesn't stop here: this Ura Oni's Max Combo value calls back to the release day of the Idolm@ster album that featured the song GOIN'!!! for the very first time: THE IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS ANIMATION PROJECT 08 GOIN'!!!, released on May 13th (5/13), 2015.

Over the past few years, male idols have also started to gather new highs of popularity... so much so that there's now a dedicated Idolm@ster branch to produce people from the other sex! This course of action was also backed up by both mobile gaming and a back-to-back Anime serialization about those.

Premiered on October 2017 and produced by the same team behind the Cinderella Girls Anime, the 13-episodes Anime series based on THE iDOLM@STER: SideM (アイドルマスター サイドエム) draws quite the large number of parallels from the aforementioned series' structure, oriented on a new talent agency (315 Production) and its wide array of idols. The members of the Jupiter unit from former Idolm@ster games and the newcoming 3-idol DRAMATIC STARS actare the main focus of the show, although other more seasoned members are also spotlighted within the series.

Reason!! is the song that is used as the opening theme for all of the series' episodes. Composed/arranged by the nicknamed EFFY and lyricized by Youhei Matsui (松井洋平), the original song is performed by the members of 6 of the fictional sub-units of 315Pro, collectively known under the name of 315 STARS: the aforementioned Jupiter (Touma Amagase, Shouta Mitarai and Hokuto Ijuuin) and DRAMATIC STARS (Teru Tendo, Kaoru Sakuraba and Tsubasa Kashiwagi), Beit (Kyoji Takajo, Pierre and Minori Watanabe), S.E.M (Michio Hazama, Rui Maita and Jiro Yamashita), HighxJoker (Shiki Iseya, Hayato Akiyama, Haruna Wakazato, Jun Fuyumi and Natsuki Sakaki) and W (the Aoi brothers, Yusuke and Kyosuke). The version that got to Taiko, however, is the one that only features the DRAMATIC STARS idols as the singers, which was also ported to Bandai Namco's Synchronica music game series (link) with the 'DRAMATIC STARS ver.' subtitle.

While the base BPM is leagues higher than the one of GOIN'!!!, the two songs' Oni mode are somewhat equal on the difficulty spectrum, with both sporting no note formations outside the 1/16 charting rule and only featuring mono-color clusters.

Feature: Taiko Sales Figures Comeback - The Digital Share

$

0

This is a sequel feature to our first overall look at the general sales figures in Taiko no Tatsujin games, where we took a look at the accountable physical software sales from every Taiko no Tatsujin title that has been made, up to the Ps Vita trilogy.

One big hindrance to our former researching efforts was the incapability to supply a consistent look at the overall sales of the more recent games in the series, as digital downloads have become a sizable feature for modern Taiko gaming and many sales figures usually don't incorporate the digital sales with the physical versions. As the interest for digital sales data has increased in the past few years and more platforms over the Internet have risen up to account the newborne share of the gaming market, we've come back to update the overall figure sales of the more recent Taiko titles, starting with the first games with accounted digital versions (the 3DS trilogy) and ending up with the PS4 Taiko addition as an overall newcomer to our research.

Together with the sources credited by us on our first sales research feature, we want to give a shoutout to the Game Data Library, a website which has gathered both digital and physical sales data for the Japanese market's videogame sales, with the digital figures being based on Famitsu's Digital Top 30 and the PlayStation Store Estimates.

DISCLAIMER: As the digital sales figures aren't recorded for games that don't manage to become top-sellers on the Famitsu charts, the digital section for all games will also report the period of time without any data updates from the most recent data reveal to this post's original publishing data, March 11th.

It's also important to remember that our source only deals with the Japanese videogame sales, so we're left with nothing once again for the alternate-language versions of many of the Taiko titles being listed below.

Starting with the 3DS Taiko games, we can see how the sales of the three games have been slightly increased over time from our first look, with the lifetime sales for Dokodon! Mystery Adventure being doubled overall. Be it for the novelty factor of the digital purchase function or the second 3DS game's long-lasting impact, Don to Katsu no Jikuu Daibouken is the biggest seller of the trio on the digital front, nearing the 10.000 purchases.

As for the first title, its digital version never made it to the top sports of any of the Japanese market's publicly-released digital charts, so we don't know the kind of impact it had for that game, as well for other similar cases we're going to discuss later on.

Global LTD sales - ~45.166

With the Wii U titles, we've spotted the biggest data discrepancy with the sources that we've consulted for the preparation of the former sales feature, as the lifetime overall sales for both Tokumori and Atsumete★Tomodachi Daisakusen appear to be lower than the values detected as part of our first findings.

It doesn't help the release period of these two titles either: being November-launched games, the Wii U games' release date had to compete with other Christmas contenders, resulting into very little sales data overall for the digital side. Once again, being on arguable the least-selling console of its time, didn't help, either...

PlayStation Vita Games

Taiko no Tatsujin V Version

Physical

Global LTD sales - 27.118

As V Version didn't make it to the physical top charts since our first overview, the situation hasn't been changed that much since then, with its accounted digital share becoming the highest yet accounted for a Taiko no Tatsujin game. Once again, we also had data conflicts for the figures of the two Idolm@ster games combines, with the overall LTD data resulting lower to the Game Data Library than our first recovered value from other sources.

PlayStation 4 Games

Taiko no Tatsujin Session de Dodon ga Don

Physical
First Week sales - 28.245
LTD sales            - 59.824

Digital
LTD sales - 6.795

Global LTD sales - 66.619

Last in line is the the PS4 Taiko debut game, which has already managed to outsell the final Wii U title in roughly 5 months! It's also the home console game with the highest digital share to date.

Twitter Snippets (February 10 2018): That Blue ver. Battle Mode PV We Sorely Missed

$

Yes, this promotional sequence actually came out way in advance in JAEPO 2018 back in February, but we did not catch wind until late last night (we only saw that poster with the mention back then). But hey, since this very same snippet also comes to all public Blue ver. cabinets today, we are considering this a minor victory against our usual lateness.

In brief, the Performance Battle Mode (演奏バトルモード) coming in Summer 2018 won't have you battle against fellow players like back in AC3 through AC6, but instead against monsters like "slightly derpy leg-butterflies", "very derpy chameleons" and "generic leaf spirit blobs"(names not serious) in a setting featuring you saving the world with the brand new female protagonist and princess Amitie (アミティ). Level up as you defeat enemies for... progress mechanics of unknown nature! There will also be Deathblows (必殺技) for you to blast through the enemy line in a swift.

Before you say how much a rip-off it is with the DS lines... well you are not wrong actually. Now that Nintendo Switch Version is not going to have any RPG element in (side mode is minigames), that character development has to go somewhere.

EDIT: Video form of the said PV. Not missing much though, other than music and little Don-chan jumps.

UPDATE 2 (15/03/18): A late yet weirdly punctual Twitter Snippet shows the promotional sequence that Blue ver. plays to preview the Performance Battle Mode.

UPDATE 3 (15/03/18): Lucky Notes on POP TEAM EPIC are... epic? All three notes are hit as dons. And you really get to break the Takeshobo building (instead of flying off like normal notes) with special SFX.

Blue Version is the 10th color-labeled firmware upgrade to keep ignited the flame of the third-generation Taiko no Tatsujin arcade models, retaining Yellow Version's Rewards Shop model with the addition of new songs to boot. The removal of White Version's Tokkun Mode has been compensated by the addition of a special Battle Mode, whose implementation details are still unknown to this day.

List of Titles in Taiko no Tatsujin (Blue Version)

$
0
0
The title stem was introduced by a firmware update in Taiko 0, and gives players with access to Banapassports nicknames to put beside their usernames while they play, as a mark of their in-game achievements, much like in other rhythm games with user profiles. The titles can be interchanged in Donder Hiroba when you have obtained them, and the one currently selected will display on the arcade screen wherever the player name is. Some titles unlock hidden content like songs and costumes.

It is possible to get more than one title in a go by overlapping the conditions for unlocking them. In addition, for newer players, Don Points (DP) will also be given out for titles they get (until Red Version).

Almost all the titles from the Yellow Version are available on Blue ver. as well, with the addition of new title unlocks. Once again, titles are not ordered under a numerical order.

Titles are listed below, translated into English wherever possible.

List of Title Parts in Taiko no Tatsujin (Blue Version)

From Momoiro Version 2.04 onwards, arcade Banapassport players are able to set titles for their personal nickname either with one of the titles previously unlocked by doing specific tasks or by creating a new one by scratch by using specific title parts.

These title parts are basically divided into two different groups: nouns and phrases ('Group A') and symbols or connectives ('Group B'). Players can use up to 2 words from Group A and a symbol/connective from Group B to construct a custom title, following the scheme A-B-A. Any spot of said scheme can be left blank and the slots for Group A words can be filled with the same word.

While all the units from Group B are unlocked by default, players have to get the title parts from Group A through the rewards shop. Certain Group A parts can be unlocked only by achieving specific goals just like regular titles, whose unlocking requirements are explained into White Version's unlock page.

Below there is the full list of title parts achievable on Taiko Blue Version from both groups, listed under the related Title Parts Gacha that grant the unlock of the title part. Title parts marked in red cannot be purchased through the Donder Hiroba/Rewards shop and have to be unlocked individually. Empty Space and Blank entries for both the groups are not listed.
