Until this point

If you are not careful
When you are feeling blue
Somehow when tears come bursting out
Still there is time

A heart so clear, just like a crystal
When I think of you, power is overflowing
Becoming invincible

Libb-rabb, libble-rabb
Libb-rabb, libble-rabb

Piercingly determined are the beautiful two
Today too, aiming for those streets
"Flower Balloon!"
Let's proceed

Libb-libb, rabb-rabb

Fashionable children

[RUMOR] - General Asia's Red Version Launch (Edit: Date confirmed)

What you're seeing above is the (alleged) full list of new songs inclusions for not-Japanese Taiko arcades' next firmare jump, as the transition to General Asia's Red Version will take place on September 6th ... at least according to one of the most recent rumors.

If the leaked tables will correspond to the actual new song releases, this launch will have the introduction all the songs that have been featured in the namesake Japanese firmware up until the ongoing Taiko 3DS3 campaign's end, with the usual exception of Don Point songs. Together with those, however, some Japan-exclusive licenses will finally manage to cross the geographical boundaries, ranging from older ones (such as Guren no Yumiya and the Music Gun!Gun!2 crossovers) to more fresh releases like V/White Version's Kakushinteki☆Metamaruphose.

EDIT: September 6 the date is confirmed by official Asian ver. Facebook. We also found the possible source of the list being one of Hong Kong's chain arcade operators.

Namco Taiko Blog (1 September 2016) - Tokkun Mode's New Future Features

While we're waiting for the next Red Version update's release date, the Taiko Team is using their weekly blog appointment to illustrate once again the new features that will be added to Tokkun Mode in said update.

20160902_001

The first one is a hit counter that will keep track of how many hits have been performed on any drumroll, hit-balloon or Kusudama note. The counter changes color according to the state of the kind of drumroll marker approached: blue for a not-cracked balloon/Kusudama, white for a normal Kusudama note clear ratio and yellow for drumroll bars and succesfully-cracked balloons/great Kusudama note clears.

Please note that the counter will stay up as long as the song keeps playing; if it's paused in the middle, the counter will freeze and then reset when the song is made it play again.

20160902_002

Down there instead is the drumroll hit counter, which will keep track of how many hits have been taken on a song's special notes before the pause or at the end of a song. Upon hitting play again or changing the position at the end, this counter will be reset.

20160902_003

Only view-able when the song is paused, this marker shows the players the number of the beat stanza they're in over the total number of beat stanzas featued in the chosen song overall.

20160902_004

Finally, the progress bar will have its own Go-Go Time markers to warn players where said highlighted portions are going to start and end as they're practising the chosen tracks.

THE DAYMy Hero Academia (2/4/6/8, 486 notes on Oni)
Today's brand new song from the Hero Pack is the rocking opening theme by Porno Graffitti. Compared with the last new ★8 Oni debuting on 3DS3 (Battle -Denkousekka-), patterns are more simple but instead trains more on speed (186 BPM) and stamina. It starts with a singular, isolated 24th triple just like the addition coming tomorrow.

In other news, RARE HERO (now all caps) is cut to also ★8 Oni, and EZ DO DANCE kept its ★8 Oni rating from Wii5, iOS and more recently Kanjani Eight. Now would you excuse me I need to fix the words of a certain manic clown.

EDIT: We take advantage of this post to also warn you about a 3DS song title change from our part, after the jump.

 トラベルナ ~モンスターハンタークロスより~ Traveluna ~from Monster Hunter Cross~ → TraBelna ~from Monster Hunter Cross~

Now that Monster Hunter Generations has been launched worldwide and its main/ending theme has its officially-translated name, we're using that one against our first, more literal translation.

We already know that a new update was coming in the near future thanks to the previous livestream broadcast, but its actual release date wasn't revealed during said past event.

With today's official blog entry, we now know that this update will be launched on September 14th, bringing to the table Red Version's Dojo Ranking/Taiko School together with the new song quartet, Tokkun Mode tweaks and collaboration events in the air! In addition to that, there are a couple of details that have been added to the already-known update details:

  • VICTORIA, Cranky's debut Namco Original, has been revealed to be part of the God Collection series, as Victoria was the Roman personification of victory and equal to the Greek goddess Nike.
  • A couple of unlockable songs in past firmwares's Dojo Ranking mode -namely X-DAY2000 and Joubutsu 2000- will be added to the Rewards Shop in the day of the update.

Twitter Snippets (31 August 2016) - conflict, the "Try To Sing" version

This week's most shared/liked tweet from the Taiko Team is easily surpassing the thousands and yes, there's a silly reason behind of that! Being asked by a follower to sing siromaru and Cranky's popular BMS song, the Team answered the call with the random gibberish you can see above.

Following the peculiar request, someone else asked for an impromptu singing of Donkama 2000 and, well, ... the Taiko Team answer speaks for itself, really.

"What!?"

Apparently, though, Etou wasn't here to join the fun because "the throat got him"... But was it really needed to type the singing? I mean it's not like typing with boxing gloves on or anything

Across Japan (Sept 2 2016): Red ver. for Asia, Now More Official

Hope our previous sneak peek leak satisfied your hype needs! Now that the official announcement is out, let's run through what's actually slated to be up!

Firstly, while the leaked list show 47 songs making Asian debut, the official announcement confirms all of them and even tops it up to 49!... No, not the Macross Delta songs, but the SORA-I and II pair that came to Japan ver. around the February Tournament.

Also finally following the Japan system, your DonPoint accumulated total will be reset with Red ver. with fresh rewards, instead of piling on at the end of the already-massive 500k+ lines. If you haven't finished them prior you will getting as many as 12 more songs opened to you.

Aesthetic-wise, the entry screen now follows the late White ver. (after Tokkun Mode release) in asking you whether you want to change your Don-chan outfit (きせかえ) or directly go to the game (演奏ゲーム). No news about Tokkun Mode though, oh well.

The lists of new and defaulted songs can be found in Japanese in the original post (now with experimental English version!). If you want our translated and annotated list, it's after the jump.

Song of the Week! 3 September 2016

$
0
0

Earlier this week, we've had a peculiar song suggestion by chatbox user kathy for this corner... which we're eager to spotlight today!

 Don-chan Sekai Ryokou (どんちゃん 世界旅行)
Version
Allx4 (154)x4 (229)x6 (474)x7 (573/521/493)
 Taiko PS2 4, Taiko PSP 1, 2, CD Donderful
 138
 none
 bko1

Piling up to the other advancements on the console front in terms of both gameplay and graphic presentation, the 4th PlayStation 2 Taiko game is also well known not only for being one of the few titles whose opening theme features a male vocalist, but also for accomplishing the same feat with the ending theme as well! Don-Chan Sekai Ryokou (lit. 'Don-chan World Travel')'s theme is as simple as it gets, with the Taiko sibling's dream travel across the world while peppering the description with puns to the many locations he wants to visit between the Japanese wording and the nations' English names.

The song is composed by MONACA no Okabedesu member Keiichi Okabe (岡部啓一) and as such it warranted for itself a bko SongID (with 'bko' being a shortened reversed naming of Okabe himself); however, despite the 1 tackled at the back, this is not the artist's very first song contribution in Taiko, as that merit is held by Namco Original Hello! Don-chan from the very first arcade. With the lyrics penned by the nick-named Yasukawa Shogo (ヤスカワショウゴ ), Don-chan Sekai Ryokou is sung by Kenji Kai (甲斐健司), already the singer of Dodododo-donderful! of Taiko 4 fame. While this song is currently a playable exclusivity to Japanese Taiko games on Sony devices, a shorter lyric-less cut of Don-chan Sekai Ryokou was used as the ending theme for both the US and JP versions of Taiko Drum Master (link).

Being a song based on traveling and puns, it's currently debated among fans whether or not the song's Max Note count on the Master route (573) was a goroawase to Konami specifically intended by the notecharter or not; regardless those speculations, the Oni charts tend to follow the easier side of making forked paths by taking an easier 'basic' notechart path and then adding/recoloring a few notes along the way to round the difficulty up with more 3-note clusters overall.

Feature: General Sales Figures in the Taiko no Tatsujin series

Here on this blog we've had multiple occasions to see the launch week figures for many Taiko no Tatsujin games that have been released during this humble blog's existence; however, have you ever wondered how most of these releases have fared on the later years in the sales spectrum?

In this feature, we're taking a look at the current situation of the software sales figures for the Taiko no Tatsujin series as a whole, by dividing the game releases to the many console families and listing both the 1st-week sales and the Life-to-Date (or LTD) figures for each boxed release.

Among the many sources that have been browsed for the data you're about to see, give our shoutouts to Media Create, VGChartz and NeoGAF user Chris1964 for the Media Create/Famitsu historical database, available at this link.

This list refers to the data that has been officially updated up until the latest Taiko no Tatsujin game's release, which -at this entry's original posting date- is Dokodon! Mystery Adventure for Nintendo 3DS. Said title will have its sales figures updated to the end of its 8th week of release, which ended on August 6th, 2016.

For the time being, due to not-fully-documented instances we're only sticking with the physical sales figures for each title, consisting of the actual titles being sold regardless of the purchasable versions the games have been in (ie. featured in a Taiko Tatacon bundle, Platinum/Nintendo Best Choice,...)

Taiko no Tatsujin Doka! to Oomori Nanadaime
First Week sales - 11.502
LTD sales            - 66.761

The many Taiko titles's overall selling trend on PlayStation 2 isn't very dissimilar to many other videogame series, past and current, which relied on yearly releases (even multiple ones!) on the very same console for a long time, with the first games scoring some of the series' highest peaks of all time in the series' life-time figures, sporting what currently is the most sold Taiko game in physical version with the very first release. Appare! Sandaime is the 2nd highest peak overall, while the PS2 title in-between can bolster the biggest launch week sales for the series on its first home console venture.

The least-performing title in both aspects -as well as the reason of why aren't getting any other official Taiko games in the West to date- is Taiko Drum Master, whose sales figures have been incredibly low in Japan as well as in the original North American release. The closer contender for PS2 grounds is instead Tobikkiri! Anime Special, whose combined sales can barely match 1/4 of the ones scored by the first Taiko Anime game compilation.

PlayStation Portable Games

Taiko no Tatsujin Portable DX boxart

Taiko no Tatsujin Portable

LTD sales            - 233.267

Taiko no Tatsujin Portable DX
First Week sales - 110.242
LTD sales            - 344.347

We have quite the inverted trend when it comes to Sony portable gaming, as each of the progressively-released games in the Portable trilogy has fared better than its predecessor, with Portable 2 observing the highest selling rate from the launch week compared to its debut window and Portable DX's FWS easily trumping the former games by almost 7 times each!

Nintendo DS Games

Meccha Taiko no Tatsujin Nanatsu no Shima no Daibouken boxart

Taiko no Tatsujin DS Touch de Dodokon

Taiko no Tatsujin DS Dororon! Youkai Dai Kessen!!
First Week sales - 65.214
LTD sales            - 418.229

The Taiko franchise on their Nintendo handheld debut has had its highs and lows as a whole, with the 2nd title boasting the 2nd overall biggest physical sales for the series and the third title almost counting a loss of 300.000 copies from the former DS game. At the very least, the many launch week figures have been consistent in popularity for this trilogy of games!

Nintendo Wii Games

Taiko no Tatstujin Wii boxart

Taiko no Tatsujin Wii
First Week sales - 114.160
LTD sales            - 658.783

Taiko no Tatsujin Wii Dodon~! to Nidaime!

Taiko no Tatsujin Wii Kettei-Ban

Taiko no Tatsujin Wii Chogouka-Ban
First Week sales - 102.437
LTD sales            - 654.842

Sales figures for the five Wii games has been a lob-sided journey on the release order spectrum, with the first and fifth game being sold the most and the games that were launched in-between getting meddling launch/overall sales. The first Wii game, in particular, is the current holder of the best-selling Taiko game at launch week in the franchise, on top of being the 3rd best seller overall.

Nintendo 3DS Games
Taiko no Tatsujin Chibi Dragon to Fushigi na Orb boxart

Taiko no Tatsujin Chibi Dragon to Fushigi na Orb
First Week sales - 63.388
LTD sales            - 548.998

Taiko no Tatsujin Don to Katsu no Jikuu Daibouken
First Week sales - 62.247
LTD sales            - 274.510

Taiko no Tatsujin Dokodon! Mystery Adventure
First Week sales - 35.465
LTD sales            - 77.501

From this point onward, we ask you to take the data for this and the following console entries to be a snapshot of the current situation, as these (and the next!) games are still in production and purchasable for home/portable consoles which are still currently supported by new software entries. We also have to mention that all of the sales figures have been grouped under one value; for this reason, we don't know the exact figures for the localized versions of some of the most modern games, such as Korean Taiko 3DS 2 and V Version's Chinese 'General Asia' edition.

Keeping that in mind, the new Nintendo portable adventures of the Taiko siblings still have their following of customers, although if not matching with the former DS titles' trail. After Chibi Dragon to Fushigi na Orb's popularity, the sequel barely moved more than half of the former title's sales numbers and the most-recently released game has had a launch week start drastically reduced from the former games in they physical side of gaming releases.

Nintendo Wii U Games

Taiko no Tatsujin Wii U Version!
First Week sales - 17.518
LTD sales            - 187.958

Taiko no Tatsujin Tokumori!
First Week sales - 11.769
LTD sales            - 112.281

Taiko no Tatsujin Atsumete★Tomodachi Daisakusen!
First Week sales - 11.989
LTD sales            - 59.714

For the next Nintendo home console Taiko releases, it appears that the newcomer system itself's lower user-base is well reflected into the Taiko Wii U game sales, with each subsequent title selling a little less than the former one in the same system (given the same time span from release).

PlayStation Vita Games

Taiko no Tatsujin V Version
First Week sales - 46.101
LTD sales            - 102.758

The iDOLM@STER Must Songs Red Album / Blue Album
First Week sales - 23.349
LTD sales            - 36.761

Closing this feature is the report for the games that have been released on another less-performing console on the market, this time for the portable front. So far, 2015's three PS Vita Taiko titles have barely managed to break the 130k combined sales milestone, while still being modern fan-favorites.

English translation
"So, once crossing the night, it will be our farewell here"
You laughed like it was such a pity
Not replying and looking down will only leave regret

~Back~

Summer is always been struck by the unforecasted rain,
You laughing at "aw it failed", but always so shy to me
Kept away by one, two, three centimeters of distance, you and me
Still have not yet have fun at the festival

Looking down, I have nothing to say and tears appear
"It's the last," you, with your tender smile, approached me and say

Three, yes (= worship)
Holding hands together, let's dance!
I have been really, really liking you
The seasons might rotate before long
But I too will make a stop here for that

The present ticking away, etched with the rhythm of Taiko drums
One-two-three (= brother), now, as we hold hands together
Let's fly, ready set go, hide your tears and one-two-three
This is really the farewell now, so go along

Set, go!!!

This week's feature is dedicated to one of Japan's more revered superhero series as we briefly take a look at its history in Taiko gaming, from one-off collaboration partnerships to becoming the current high-difficulty hallmark staple of the whole Anime genre. Shuwatch!

Born in 1966 from the mind of Godzilla series co-creator Eiji Tsuburaya (円谷英二) as a tokusatsu (特撮, lit. 'live action') science fiction series, the Ultra franchise is highly regarded as one of the trailblazers for Japanese action series that focuses on battles within giant monsters (or Kaiju, 怪獣, in Japanese), still active to this day due to the Ultraman (ウルトラマン) show's popularity and the prolific sequel and spin-off production that followed its success and is managing to stay strong to this day, even after its creator's passing in 1969.

The very first 39-episode series in which the titular Ultraman is the main protagonist is actually the 2nd one overall, continuing from the events of the January 1966 tokusatsu Ultra Q. In this series, set on a near-future Earth (later to be revealed in the 70ies), monsters of any kind and shape are threatening the planet's population, with the Human organization known as the Science Special Search Party being the only force capable to repel the threats. The plot starts when SSSP ace member Shin Hayata goes after an unidentified alien creature, tracked off as a blue orb being chased by a mysterious red orb. During the chase, the red orb crashes into Hayato's ship and kills him in the process; upon landing, the red orb's pilot is revealed to be Ultraman, a red-and-silver alien from Nebula M-78 who was looking after the escaping monster known as Bemular. Feeling guilty for the death of Hayato, Ultraman uses his own life source to bring the human back to life, as well as being hosted by the very same Hayato in order to offer his help against planet Earth's monster/alien attacks.

The adventures of the space soldier (and its many successors) against the many invading creatures from space have been featured in many kinds of media across the years, including over 90 different videogames from Banpresto and Bandai/Bandai Namco itself, some manga/Anime adaptations and the series itself getting localized for the Western audiences. The Ultraman show, in particular, got two different full DVD releases including an English dub in 2006 and 2009, being published respectively by Chaiyo Productions and Navarre's Mill Creek Entertainment label. On the comic front, Harvey Comics Entertainment released two short series between 1993 and 1994 about this entry in the so-dubbed 'Ultra series', while in 2011 a Japanese manga simply titled ULTRAMAN (in all caps) was released as a sort-of sequel to the original Ultraman, with an English localization by Viz Media occurred in 2015.

Coming to the Ultraman show's main theme, Ultraman no Uta is performed by the Misuzu Children's Choral Group (みすず児童合唱団), with Kyoichi Azuma (恭一あずま) retaining the authorship of the song's lyrics and Kunio Miyauchi (邦夫宮内) being the composer for both the Ultra Q and Ultraman series's music. For the English dub, the iconic theme song has been remade by The Serendipity Sisters.

Ultraman's journey in Taiko gaming started from this song, making its debut in the first PS2 Anime compilation and later on getting revived for Taiko Plus's Ultraman Pack, giving the song a longer playable version with modernized notecharts and custom dancers starring many heroes and villains from the Ultra series up to said song pack's release. In both notecharts, 1/12 and 1/16 have their own time to shine without looking too menacing, with the PS2 charts more focused on monocolor clusters and long hitballoons while the latter offers some simple handswitching practice for newcomer Oni players.

After the aforementioned Taiko console outings and one selected arcade song debut in Taiko 8 with former shortest-song Taiko champion Unmei no Shizuku ~Destiny's star~, Namco's music games and the Ultra series seem to have parted ways for good, until the inception of the 2013 Ultra show Ultraman Ginga (ウルトラマンギンガ) which lead to a second coming for the brand in Taiko.

A part of the New Ultraman Retsuden programming block on TV Tokyo from July to December, the Ginga series was made in order to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Tsubaraya Productions, the special effects studio founded by Ultraman creator Eiji Tsubaraya and holder of the Ultra franchise. In this series, all of the Ultraman and Ultra Monsters have been turned into darkness-filled artifacts known as the Spark Dolls, causing havoc in the universe. When teenager student Hikaru Raidō finds the Ginga Spark, he's able to transform into Ultraman Ginga which, guided by former Ultra fighter Ultraman Taro, is up to rid the universe of the Spark Dolls by reverting them to their original state and finding out who's behind the whole evil scheme. The Ginga ark is also one of the few in the Ultra franchise to get a sequel series, with 2014's Ultraman Ginga S.

Ultraman Ginga no Uta is the titular hero's insert song, which can be heard in selected episodes in both the Ginga and Ginga S series. This song's creation involved four main artists, as well as Ginga's main human characters as its main/choral singers; starting from the composers we have voyager, Chisa (千紗) from the Girl Next Door unit, Maria Haruna (マリア春菜) and Hiroaki Takeuchi (竹内 浩明), while the voice actors of Hikaru Raidō, his childhood friend trio of Misuzu/Kenta/Chiguya and child prodigy Tomoya provide the song's vocals.

With the averagely-high BPM setting being a good guarantee of high difficulty alone, Ultraman Ginga no Uta's Oni notecharts are the difficulty trailblazers for the later modern Ultra songs's difficulty approach, mostly starring stamina-draining repeaded 1/16 notechart formations and long/intricate note streams during the middle guitar portion where sudden 1/24 bursts are a constant combo break menace to the players. For a song genre which is usually used to under-600 notes charts, Ultraman Ginga no Uta has been the song with the highest Oni mode note count among the Anime songs, only to be topped years later -again- by the subsequent Ultra songs.

While also remembering about the Taiko x PAD Collaboration's ending and the next update's new songs with subsequent tweets, the Taiko Team has decided to spill the beans about the returning Touhou Project collaboration event with an overview of its newcomer elements.

As already anticipated, the event will kick in from Red Version's V2.07 update (this Wednesday!), featuring the same unlocks of the first collaboration round as unlockable rewards through a gacha in the players's Donder Hiroba profile, accessible by playing Touhou Project songs. What's new this time around is the progressive addition of new petit chara in the measure of one per week, for 5 weeks, with the two previously-shadowed characters now being revealed.

Together with Flandre Scarlet and the Komeiji Sisters, we'll also have Petit Chara forms for Imperishable Night Extra Boss Fujiwara no Mokou (藤原妹紅) and the couple of Renko Usami (宇佐見蓮子) and Maribel Hearn (マエリベリー・ハーン), two human students which are featured in the cover art of several albums from the fabled ZUN's Music Collection series. They'll be appearing on Week 2 and Week 5 of the upcoming event, respectively.

On this day where all AC0 Red ver. cabinets, Japan and outside, get an update. For some reason let's have the Japan-exclusive elements first!

とんかつDJアゲ太郎 Tonkatsu DJ Agetarou (4/6/7/9, 725 notes on Oni)
   ‐太鼓の達人Mix‐ -Taiko no Tatsujin Mix-
DJ-ing is a very rhythm-conscious job, and hence so is this sort-of medley of the anime about barely linking DJ-ing and frying Tonkatsu pork chops. The song starts with highly mixed 4- and 6-hits with frequent offbeats, then to a 12th- and 24th-centric bridge and a resting smooth section, ending with a slightly heightened BPM (though at the same scroll speed) featuring way longer streams.

FANTASTIC BABY (3/3/5/7, 543 notes on Oni)
Mostly doubles and mixed triples 16th clusters, this song is faster than the last K-POP pick MISTER making it a more rightful ★7.

友よ~この先もずっと… Tomo Yo~Kono Saki mo Zutto (2/4/4/5, Papa Mama Support, 279 notes on Oni)
「映画クレヨンしんちゃん 爆睡!ユメミーワールド大突撃」より Crayon Shin-chan: Fast Asleep! Dreaming World Big Assault!
The easiest Ketsumeishi song ever marks a 8th-based notechart with just isolated triples and offbeat singles.

サイレントマジョリティー Silent Majority (2/4/4/6, 284 notes on Oni)
Slow song again, but the patterns are a good selection for ★6 going onto ★7. Begins with offbeats and hanging doubles in the opening and closes with a more 3- and 5-hit centric chorus.

ブラッドサーキュレーター Blood Circulator (2/4/5/7, Papa Mama Support, 414 notes on Oni)
   「NARUTO‐ナルト‐疾風伝」より Naruto: Shippuden
A higher-end ★7 with a high speed and quite hefty on the clusters for a good sweat, which go up to 5-hit ddddd.

 Paradisus‐Paradoxum (3/5/6/8, 414 notes on Oni)
「Re:ゼロから始める異世界生活」より Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World-
High speed is the game here, and topped with 5-hit clusters not being a rare scene and even 9-hit ddddkkkkd for four times. The selection of triples also varies much to rarer ones like kdd which might throw off new ★8s.

Abandoned Temple Final 2nd (3/4/6/9, 614 notes on Oni)
   「鉄拳7 FR」より Tekken 7 Fated Retribution
Scattered 32th (actually double BPM at half scroll speed) doubles and triples all around and within its longer and highly mixed streams is not exclusive to ★10s now, I regret to tell you. While it's not as crazy as FLOWER Ura or Sou'ryuu no Ran it is still something.

仙酌絶唱のファンタジア Senshaku Zesshou no Fantasia (3/5/5/9, 701 notes on Oni)
   東方Projectアレンジ Touhou Project Arrange
博麗神社例大祭コラボユニット Hakurei Shrine Reitaisai Collab Unit
The effort of various artist remixing different Touhou music is finally up onto Taiko no Tatsujin, and while parts of them are easy enough, there are enough challenge to bump it to a rightful ★9 including the final stretch of the Touhou Project main theme. Oh, and don't forget the last note after the 130+ hit balloon.

conflict (4/5/7/9, 736 notes on Oni)
   siromaru+cranky
Possibly the height of eye-catchingness of the day, the BMS-spawn and conqueror of five other rhythm game makers is... surprising easy on Taiko no Tatsujin? The bulk of the notechart is just hefty streams of 16th clusters. As a ★9 this late into the 3rd generation it is very devoid of 24th clusters or other gimmicks, making it arguably and significantly easier than KUSANAGI, Ryuumyaku no Ou or another handful of higher ★9s.

And no, we do not have the time to sing it here, but Etou did a few weeks back if you like.

VICTORIA (5/7/8/10, 868 notes on Oni)
   Cranky
Ending with a HD recording of the WCS2016-spawn to tell you that the ★1 ratings at the reveal are in fact decoys.

Today, one of the Taiko Team's ladies is at the helm of the weekly blog entry updates for a double dose of posts, concerning the events in schedule for September 30th's livestream and what the header picture you're seeing above is for!

As anticipated by Etou last week, the next broadcast will have a 'Livestream Fun Time' portion tacked at the end of the run, with the Taiko Team hosts interacting with the audience for a number of activities. Here they are in full detail:

Questions to the Taiko Team
Want to ask something to the big names behind the Taiko no Tatsujin series? Here's a chance for your curiosity to shine! Send a question on Twitter by using the Japanese hashtag #太鼓チームに質問 (#QuestionsToTaikoTeam), and it might be read and answered live during the livestream! Any number of questions can be sent during the next 7 days, with the only limitations for the Team being stream time constrains, one question per tweet and no negative intentions such as slandering.

Taiko Team vs Donders! Super Hard Quiz Tournament
If you're feeling in the mood of more Taiko trivia action after our returning blog anniversary challenge, the Taiko Team is competing against the Nicovideo audience with an harder-than-before quiz! We've better to give a lot of correct answers, this time around...

Namco Original Song Revival Awards
...because the positive endeavors of the streamers will be rewarded with a Namco Original song revival, appearing in both Taiko Red Version and 3DS 3 as a piece of DLC. Up to four song suggestions can be won by succeeding at the Taiko Team's quiz to be balloted live for the decision, with eventual lost picks being decided by the Taiko Team hosts instead.

New Song Six-Hand Notecharting Job! Forked-Path Notecharter Trio Election
The last event on schedule will be about one of the next songs to come out for the series, which will be featuring forked paths being charted by three different people! The Taiko no Tatsujin fans will have a saying on the charters's identity with yet another Twitter campaign, which is actually the topic for today's second blog entry.

★         ★         ★

For the last of the Livestream Fun Time events, there's another Twitter campaign for everyone to join! All the entries have to be labeled with the Japanese hashtag #譜面ジャー組み合わせ (#MusicSentaiCombination), specifying the voted member and the favorite song notechart from the selected charter among the ones that have been listed in this 2nd blog entry, together with a supporting message (again, no slander please) for your vote. Both this Twitter campaign and the previously-mentioned #太鼓チームに質問 will run from today to September 23rd.

Here are the notecharters that are participating for the election, with their selection of most-recent works:

-) atsu
Gomenasai no Kissing You
Sore wa Bokutachi no Kiseki
Monster Hunter 4 Medley
Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire Medley
TO MAKE THE END OF BATTLE
Heart Slump Futari-bocchi
Setsuna Trip
Korokoro Cocotama!
Checkmate!?
Shokou ~Dawn~

Often called for collaboration brand-related songs, atsu is used to make notecharts as they could be used as an original score for a Taiko cover of a given song; as such, this notecharter usually approaches licensed works only if he's a fan of said trope's representative song(s), or at least familiar with the story setting/PVs/Game/Anime theme etc.

-) Arihotto (アリーホット)
Ace Attorney 123 Medley
Ladystar Wandering
Shoutoku Taiko no "Hi Izuru Made Asuka"
KUSANAGI
Gigantic O.T.N (Oni/Ura Oni)
Watashi Igai Watashi ja Nai no
SstTAarR*
Help me, ERINNNNNN!! -Cranky remix-
Yume to Genjitsu no Kyoukai-sen
Tonkatsu DJ Agetarou

A muscle player while playing Taiko games for himself, Arihotto is keen on making stamina-based notecharts that will test your muscle endurance and make you feel like you're playing with a real Taiko drum!

-) Kawagen Collagen (カワーゲン・コラーゲン)
Ninjin Nin
Ninjyary Bang Bang
Purupuru Simple
Jikuu Chou Jikku 1-ka
Sotsu Omeshiki
Lassen Gorelai (Oni/Ura Oni)
Love Fantasy
Antonio
Netemo Netemo
Diver

The returning Kawagen's quest to be one with the songs he charts still lives on, with the same individual noticing a rise of quality in his work with lesser tiredness. What is his secret?

-) Kijikiji (キジキジ)
Tabaneito
Gunslinger Cinderella
Ghosts 'n Goblins (Overworld BGM)
Rising
Seishun Satsubatsu-ron
Zero no Rhapsody
Opa! Opa! RACER -GMT mashup-
Yoake Made Ato 3-byou
Karakuri Pierrot

Kijikiji makes his notecharts with the aim of the player imagining the song itself to unfold upon his/her eyes by playing his hybrid time-signatures pieces.

-) Kirakira☆Sakamoto (きらきら☆さかもと)
Dream Parade
Kaitou Miracle Shounen Boy
Jiriki Hongan Revolution
START DASH SENSATION
Angelic Angel
TraBelna ~from Monster Hunter Cross~
Good-bye me earth
Kakushinteki☆Metamaruphose!
Sekai Fushigi Hakken! Opening Theme
Untaka Dance

Already composer of Nightmare Survivor, this Namco SOUNDS musician turned into a recently-prolific notecharter with a nickname that reflects how everyone around him is seeing his eyes as glowing glitter! His charting motto is to never hit the Taiko drum without thinking.

-) KuboKen (くぼけん)
Maji LOVE2000%
Densha de Densha de GO!GO!GO!GC! -GMT remix-
Jibun REST@RT (Oni/Ura Oni)
Onegai! Cinderella
Thank you!
Calculator
Evidence of evil
Audio de Ka!
Lightning Dance
Hiyokko Fantasy

Idolm@ster fan KuboKen is more on the simplicity route for his creations, incentivizing one major charting mechanism to be expressed by Taiko hits for each song.

-) Sasaoka (ササオカ)
Tomo Yo~Kono Saki mo Zutto...
Minna ga Minna Eiyuu
Sekai wa Itsudemo Mystery
Warera Omou, Yue ni Warera Ari
Honnouji no Hen
Choujikuu Adventure
Neh Oshiete
Polyrhythm
Bad Apple!! feat. nomico
Natsu Matsuri

Surprisingly enough, it turns out that Sasaoka is actually one of the eldest still-in-activity notecharters, with his earliest creations being made while he was in charge of the lyrics for household products CMs. Under his belt are the always-popular Natsu Matsuri and Polyrhythm among others!

-) SueP (すえP)
Synchronicity
Canon (Synchronica Remix)
Charlie Dash!
Lost One no Goukoku
Seisou Bakuretsu Boy (Oni/Ura Oni)
Streaming Heart
Let's Kouken! ~Koi no Choueki ha 1,000,000-Nen~
crossing fiels
Diet Fighter
Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger

And now, here's a notecharter newcomer! The not-Vocaloid-Making-Related SueP crafts with love notecharts that play more on the technical side of difficulty. Being also renowned to be a charter for songs in Synchronica, it's not surprising to see this newbie charter handling their Taiko ports as well!

-) Takemoto (タケモト)
EAT 'EM UP!

...yeah, the main face of the Taiko Team's Twitter account (as well as recurrent livestream host) still has one charting work under his belt, but he's always open to try his skills on other tracks! For EAT 'EM UP, he wasn't being given any limitation outside the 7-8* range, but he'd like to be restricted in the future in order to develop his own style.

-) Shika@ni~San (しか@に~さん)
Renai Saiban
Sengoku BASARA BGM Medley
Umiyuri Kaitei Tan
Donut Hole
Nameko no Uta (Oni/Ura Oni)
Plus Danshi
Himawari no Yakusoku
OLA!!
Try Everything
Zetsubo e no Toccata

Another relatively-new charter, this nick-named fellow admits for this blog entry to be charting songs that are up on his alley to be completed. Will he touch modern 10* Oni songs in the future, too?

-) Masubu・Chuji (マスブ・チュジー)
Houjou Yayoi
Gashadokuro
Mahoujin -Summon Delta-
Jotei ~ Imbiratuula~
Tengu Bayashi
Alexander no Theme
Saturday Taiko Fever (Regular Oni only)
Ra Morena Kumonai
Thinking ~Must Mix~ (Ura Oni only)
(Nearby 90% of the songs composed/performed by himself)

That's right: Masubutchi Yuuji now has his own notecharter Sentai nickname! Being a music-maker for Taiko no Tatsujin songs himself, his notecharts tend to be closer in musicality to the main song's rhythms.

His favorite trait in Taiko playing is how by following a song's musicality the most with averagely-powerful hits will lead to a more precise performance, while hard-hitting raises the chance of 'Good' hits; he himself admits that this is valid to this day, even with the introduction of crazier songs and notechart gimmicks!

-) Marimo Institute (まりも研究所)
Ultraman X (Oni/Ura Oni)
ANTI-HERO (Oni/Ura Oni)
Scream out! -Taiko Edit.-
New World
Ephemeral, Great and Splendid Land of Grief
Shiritsu Takama-ga-hara Gakuen Koukou Kouka
Climb! Mount Parfait
Asagao
Ghost Rules (Oni/Ura Oni)
Abandoned Temple Final 2nd

Marimo Institute likes to play with contradictory concepts while charting songs, as the main preference is to make easy songs to read, but hard to be hit. With a quick paragon to the real-life Marimo plants, this charter's first year into Taiko notecharting may have left it to be grown a few millimiters, such as the plants themselves that may grow up to one centimeter in a year!

-) Dark Attribute (闇属性)
Yawaraka Sensha (Ura Oni only)
Eikyoku/Gyounan
Gimme Choco!! (Oni/Ura Oni)
≠MM
BLAZING VORTEX (Oni/Ura Oni)
Angel Halo
Kurenai
Silent Jealousy (Oni/Ura Oni)
Tutti!
Neko Kujira (Ura Oni only)

While caring for the harmony of the basic song, Dark Attribute 'TOMOKI''s charting formula is to infuse a little bit of dark magic to its charting potentials... All is licit to make players say "This is fun!" about his works!

-) Yamaguchi (ヤマグチ)
Kessen!
LovexLove Whistle
Anata ni Koi wo Shite Mimashita
Sugar Song to Bitter Step
Toori Yo
Raise your flag
Umi no Koe
Shonin YokkQ
Reitouko CJ ~Amen Taiko Brothers~
SAKURA EXHAUST

Commenting for the first time -as well as being the last elegible charter- is Yamaguchi, an individual who is completely dedicated into making a song's charts when being commissioned to, be it a 1* or a 10*! The main style trait is to symmetrically juxtapose base music and notechart as in an axis.

...actually not much really. Taiko no Tatsujin Dokodon Mystery Adventure (3DS3) is the main console game showing on the floors this year with trial plays, with a stage event at 11:50-12:20 on September 18 at the Family Game Park (not livestreamed). Taiko no Tatsujin Plus/STH is also present with just video clips.

In the meantime, look at Taiko no Tatsujin making a cameo as a booth (2:13-2:17) at the fictional PlayStation Matsuri alongside Overwatch and Final Fantasy. This came out of the Sony PlayStation Press Conference. Thanks LefaLefa for the tip-off!
